Software packages

For this assignment we had to choose 2 e-commerce suite software and prepare an evaluation chart that rates the packages on the key factors discussed. At the end , I will say which of the 2 e-com suite I would choose.

 

 

It is not always easy to chose its sotware packages. It appears that purchasing a merchant server softwrare package is used to be more cost-effective. According to the book of E-commerce 2014 by Kenneth Laudon, a merchant server software package offers an integrated environment that provides most or all pf the functionality and capabilities needed to develop a sophisticated, customer-centric site.

There is a lot of vendors of E-commerce suite and there is a lot of hidden cost (training your staff...).

 

We have to consider eight key factors to make our choice :

 

• Functionality

• Support for different business models

• Business process modeling tools

• Visual site management tools and reporting

• Performance and scalability

• Connectivity to existing business systems

• Compliance with standards

• Global and multicultural capability

• Local sames tax and shipping rules
